
The Football Tasmania Referee Conference was held on Sunday 4 February in Launceston and saw 60 referees attend the annual event, with the aim of connecting with other referees and increasing their knowledge in various areas of the game.
Football Tasmania Director, Rachel Williams, opened the conference with a welcome message.
Guest speaker Daniel Goodwin, Refereeing Engagement and Experience Lead (Football Australia) conducted a session on 2024 Law changes and provided an update on Refereeing practices from Football Australia.
Other topics included a presentation on report writing from Football Tasmania Referee Manager, Nathan Coad, player management presented by Referee Instructor, Adrian Lockley and RTC Member Jean-Pierre Raymond, and a session on professionalism presented by RTC Chair, Ian Colhoun and RTC Member Ross Logan.
Some of our young emerging elite referees Josh Berry, Thomas Mace and Ellie Beeston, and Women's A-League AR, Claire Green shared their personal journey and answered general questions about all aspects of refereeing.
For the first time, referees were recognised for their years of service to refereeing and presented with an award based on their years of service.
