National Youth Championships, introducing a new name, identity and vision. The Emerging Matildas
Championships and Emerging Socceroos Championships will set a new benchmark in Australia’s elite
youth development, reshaping the pathway for Australia’s future.

This evolution goes beyond a rebrand – it represents a strategic commitment to strengthening Australia’s
football development pathways. By aligning directly with the journey toward senior national team
representation through the CommBank Matildas and Subway Socceroos, the new identity enhances the
Championships' visibility, credibility, and impact within both the domestic and global football landscape.
Football Australia’s reimagined youth championships are built on the foundation of excellence, opportunity,
and innovation. The Emerging Matildas Championships and Emerging Socceroos Championships will serve
as the premier talent identification and development platforms in Australian football, shaping future
generations and strengthening Australia’s high-performance pathways.

With the FIFA U-17 World Cups now an annual competition, these Championships will play a pivotal role in
preparing and selecting Australia’s best young talent to compete at the highest international level. This
strategic shift strengthens Australia’s position at the forefront of global football, fostering a system that
develops not only elite players but also world-class coaches, match officials, and football professionals.
