
Today (Friday, 8 March), Football Tasmania officially launched the 2024 McDonald’s National Premier League and McDonald’s Women’s Super League, featuring the State’s top players.
Football Tasmania CEO Tony Pignata said: “We are thrilled today to announce that McDonald’s Australia have renewed and extended their sponsorship to include our Women’s Super League and will take up naming rights for both the men’s and women’s competitions.
“We are grateful for their ongoing support, and for their recognition of the women’s game.
“We welcome back all of our clubs, and extend a special welcome to our two newest teams for the McDonald’s Women’s Super League, Glenorchy Knights and Riverside Olympic.
“We look forward to the season getting underway.”
Amanda Nakad, Director of Marketing for McDonald’s Australia, said: “Over the past 50 years, McDonald’s has been committed to giving back and supporting the communities we operate in.
“We are proud to extend our partnership with Football Tasmania and play our part in helping them continue to foster up and coming football stars in Tasmania.”
Players, coaches and presidents representing the 15 teams were present, along with Football Tasmania CEO Tony Pignata and Board Chair Bob Gordon.
The McDonald’s WSL will feature seven teams in 2024 – Devonport City Strikers, Launceston United, South Hobart, Kingborough Lions, Taroona and newcomers Glenorchy Knights and Riverside Olympic.
The McDonald’s NPL will retain eight teams in 2024 - Devonport City Strikers, Launceston United, South Hobart, Launceston City, Kingborough Lions, Clarence Zebras, Glenorchy Knights, and Riverside Olympic.
The season will begin on 15 March and run until 8 September.
