Our beloved KGV ground at Grove Road continues to undergo a major facelift.
Glenorchy City Council commenced a significant building works project in late 2023, which are planned for completion in early 2025.
The works are being conducted in two stages. The first stage - which has just been completed - is the building of new change rooms, which provides two players’ change rooms, referee change room and public toilets, where the old public toilets were previously located.
Stage two has commenced on the grandstand refurbishment this week. When finished, this will provide two new change rooms, new referee change rooms, a first aid room, a kiosk and new storage rooms.
What does this mean for users for the remainder of 2024?
The new change rooms will be used by all teams and referees for all matches.
Access to the new change rooms will be communicated to the teams involved and referees each weekend, as these will change as the grandstand works progress.
The new public toilets will become available for use once access is enabled via the back of the grandstand, which should be in about 6 weeks’ time.
Portaloos have been on site since the building works commenced in late 2023 and will remain for public use in the interim.
The grandstand will not be usable until stage two renovations are completed in early 2025. Patrons still have access to the existing smaller seating around the ground.
Livestreaming of WSL and NPL matches will now be streamed from the side of the ground opposite the grandstand, until the new grandstand is completed.
Glenorchy Knights’ clubrooms have also recently been fully refurbished and opened, including the former Football Tasmania head office.
Glenorchy Knights welcome patrons on match days, noting the upstairs mezzanine area is reserved for Knights’ members only. Food and drinks can be purchased from the clubrooms.
We look forward to providing you further updates as these exciting renovations continue.
