McDonald’s NPL Tasmania Round 16
Knights Continue Free-Scoring Ways To Down City
The Glenorchy Knights continued on their free-scoring ways, downing Launceston City 5-2 in an action-packed contest at KGV. The Knights have now scored 28 goals in their past five matches, winning all five games as they continue to pace the league, still sitting 2 points clear on top with five rounds to play. There was an element of fortune about their opening goal in this one, coming via a Woodland own goal, before Tyler Harrison twice converted from the penalty spot, either side of a Kenneh strike that gave Launceston some hope. Ultimately the Knights were good value for their victory, with Cadlow and Dillon getting in on the act and may have scored even more if not for some sharps stops from Lachie Clark in the City net. Will Humphrey provided the goal of the match, scoring directly from a corner for City, but it wasn't enough for the visitors as their unbeaten run came to an end.
Final Score
Glenorchy Knights 5 (J.Woodland OG’ 27’, T.Harrison 38’ 66’, A.Cadlow 70’, R.Dillon 86’)
Launceston City 2 (A.Kenneh 44’, W.Humphrey 75’)

Lions Jump Roos and Secure Comfortable Win
The Kingborough Lions bounced back from last week's disappointment to score a 4-0 road win over Riverside Olympic at Windsor Park. Having dropped the fixture earlier in the season and needing to win from here - as well as having other results fall their way - to be any chance of claiming the league title, the Lions got the job done with an assured display. Keenan Douce got them off and running by scoring directly from a corner, before Alex Brown doubled their lead in the 20th minute. Jesse Hammond played a starring role throughout and got a deserved goal shortly after the restart, with Noah Mies putting the cherry on top of the cake with his late stoppage-time strike.
Final Score
Riverside Olympic 0
Kingborough Lions 4 (K.Douce 6’, A.Brown 20’ J.Hammond 53’, N.Mies 90+3’)

Strikers Coast Past United As Zasadny Scores Treble
The Devonport Strikers picked up three valuable points and piled more misery on Launceston United by running out comfortable 8-0 victors over Launceston United at Valley Road. The Strikers did the bulk of the damage in the second half, extending their lead from 2-0 to 8-0 with a blistering attacking display. Masi Benjamin was particularly lively, consistently getting in behind United's defence, and he was well supported by Riku Ichimura as they terrorised the visitors' defence. Towering striker Declan Zasadny wasted no time leaving his mark on the match, scoring a hat-trick despite only entering the contest as a substitute in the 64th minute.
Final Score
Devonport Strikers 8 (R.Ichimura 3’, X.Cappellino 27’, B.Denehey 50’, M.Benjamin 51’ 71’, D.Zasadny 75’, 87’ 90+1)

Morton Hat-trick helps South Remain Hot On Knights' Heels
South Hobart ensured they remained hot on the heels of the Glenorchy Knights, hitting the Clarence Zebras for six in a 6-1 victory at D'arcy Street. Nick Morton had the hosts ahead early on before Cade Smith hit back midway through the half for the Zebras. Former South keeper Jake Hayers produced an inspired first 45 minutes against his old side, making a series of big stops including a penalty save, but South were simply overwhelming them with chances and eventually took a 3-1 lead into the break. Morton completed his hat-trick midway through the second half via a free kick before Sam Berezansky and Harrison Oates made the final scoreline more emphatic with their late strikes.
Final Score
South Hobart 6 (N.Morton 8’ 33’ 78’, J.Hey og 43’, S.Berezansky 86’, H.Oates 90’)
