Kemp Hits Four As Lions Pummel Roos

The Kingborough Lions bounced back from an opening-day disappointment by pummelling Riverside Olympic 8-1 at Lightwood Park. Captain Kobe Kemp was completely unplayable at times and scored four goals in a superb individual display, as the Lions routed the visitors in a one-sided affair. This was the Lions playing in much the same manner as they ended 2023, when they were the form side of the competition across the final two months.

Strikers' Historic Comeback

The Devonport Strikers rallied from 4-0 down to stun Launceston United 6-4, and in the process completed the biggest comeback in NPL Tasmania history. The hosts were seemingly en route to one of the biggest upsets of the decade when they remarkably led by four goals after just half an hour, before a pair of first-half stoppage-time strikes saw their lead halved by the break. The second half saw the Strikers motoring onwards and by the 67th minute they had taken the lead, as United were left to rue an enormous missed opportunity, in one of the wildest games we have ever seen in the league's history.

Knights Continue Dominant Start

The Glenorchy Knights picked up where they left off in week 1, producing another dominant performance to run out 4-0 victors over Launceston City. It took until first-half stoppage time for the first goal to come, but after Riley Dillon broke the shackles, the result never looked in doubt as they controlled the contest. The Knights have now scored 13 times without conceding across the opening fortnight, in a strong start to the campaign that will fuel their title aspirations.

Morton Brace Helps South Remain Perfect

A brace from Nick Morton saw South Hobart maintain their perfect start to the new season, making it back-to-back 3-1 victories to start their campaign. The Zebras were unlucky not to lead after Nicholas O'Connell made a quite spectacular save at 0-0, before South started to work their way on top and take control of proceedings. Despite a late scare after Jack Maundrill halved their lead 20 minutes from full time, South were good value for the win and it sees them keep pace with the Knights and Strikers at the top of the table.
