McDonald’s NPL Tasmania Round 5

Knights and Lions Play Out Thrilling Draw

After a slow start, the highly anticipated Lions v Knights clash came to life after the half-hour mark and it ended up being one of the more entertaining games of the season so far. With the Lions firmly on top at halftime and leading 1-0 after a Kemp penalty conversion, the Glenorchy Knights responded with a furious start to the second half. They scored two times and created a host of other scoring chances, but in between those goals Noah Mies headed home against the run of play to leave the game at 2-2, just as it would end with neither side able to find the match winner.

Final Score

Glenorchy Knights 2 (J.Glover 47’, J.Redfearn 63’)

Kingborough Lions 2 (K.Kemp 42’, N.Mies 61’)

Strikers Held By South at Valley Road

In the second of the two top-four battles being played across the weekend, the spoils were also shared at Valley Road between Devonport and South Hobart. Brody Denehey continued his run of scoring spectacular goals, breaking the deadlock after the hour mark, but Kokubo charged down Calamatta's clearance to score a fortuitous equaliser just 10 minutes later. It means there is still just a single point between the competition's top four sides after five rounds of the season.

Final Score

Devonport Strikers 1 (B.Denehey 61’)

South Hobart 1 (M.Kokubo 72’)
