McDonald’s NPL Tasmania Round 7

Smith Salvages a Point

It was yet another draw from another top four battle, as Dom Smith helped bundle one home for the Devonport Strikers to salvage a point 10 minutes from full time. Tyler Harrison handed Knights the early lead and they had chances to extend that, before the Strikers made them pay for not putting the game away, seeing the Knights slip from top spot for the first time this year.

Final Score

Devonport Strikers 1 (D.Smith 80’)

Glenorchy Knights 1 (T.Harrison 23’)

South Hobart moved to the top of the NPL Tasmania table as they downed Launceston City 2-1 at TassieCare Park. A brace from Nick Morton, whose goals came either side of a Thierry Swaby equaliser, was enough to send the visitors to the summit at the completion of the first full round of fixtures, with every side having now played each other once.

Final Score

Launceston City 1 (T.Swaby 12')

South Hobart 2 (N.Morton 5' 27')

Zebras Turn Tables On Riverside

A fortnight after being eliminated from the Lakoseljac Cup at Riverside's hands, the Clarence Zebras enacted some revenge as they claimed a 2-1 road win at Windsor Park. James Pelletier handed the hosts the perfect start with his fortuitous opening goal shortly after kick off, but the visitors had reclaimed the advantage by half time, thanks to a wonderful volley from Jayden Hey. It was a lead they would hold 'til full time, against a Roos outfit that was reduced to 10 men after Emmanuel Ponce's second yellow card.

Final Score

Riverside Olympic 1 (J.Pelletier 5')

Clarence Zebras 2 (T.McKernan 32', J.Hey 35')
