McDonald’s Women's Super League Round 5
Knight and White Ensure Strikers Delight
The Devonport Strikers underlined their title credentials and perhaps established themselves as the early WSL favourites as they downed South Hobart 2-0 in a crunch game at Valley Road. Goals from Whitney Knight and Abbie White sealed a deserved victory for the Strikers in a game largely controlled by the defensive units. The Strikers now sit 2 points clear on top but crucially with a game in hand and are the only side to remain unbeaten through the opening five rounds.
Final Score
Devonport Strikers 2 (W.Knight 47’, A.White 83’)
South Hobart 0

Gunton Breaks Riverside Hearts
A late long-range strike from Dani Gunton saw Launceston United sneaking past Riverside Olympic in the competition's first-ever Launceston Derby. Gunton struck in the 94th minute to cap off a come-from-behind victory for her side, narrowly avoiding a boilover against a brave Riverside outfit, who had threatened to pull off the upset when Meg Connolly struck either side of the halftime break.

Launceston United 3 (O.Smith 25’, L.Smith 71’, D.Gunton 90+3’)
