TASMANIA'S TOP REFEREES TO JOIN FOOTBALL TASMANIA'S REFEREE ACADEMY

Fourteen of Tasmania's top referees are set to join the 2024 Football Tasmania Referee Academy. The aim of the academy is to produce high-quality match officials to service the local state leagues and to prepare referees for potential national selection.

The Academy was selected by the Referee Technical Committe (RTC) with the successful referees required to have a minimum level 2 referee qualification and have completed two full seasons of refereeing. From 2025, selection will be from the Football Tasmania Referee Development Group.

The Football Tasmania Referee Development Group will be established to provide further coaching and development to more referees across the state and to simplify the pathway for ambitious referees.

Referees who have a level 3 referee qualification and have completed one full season of refereeing are encouraged to apply. For 2024 there will be 30 spots available in the Referee Development Group.

The Football Tasmania Youth Referee Talent Pool will also be established in 2024 to provide new referees with further specialised coaching to help them better settle into refereeing and to provide further coaching.

Referees who have a level 4 referee qualification, are in their first two years of refereeing and are between the ages of 13-18 years are encouraged to apply for the Youth Referee Talent Pool.

Football Tasmania's Referee Development Manager, Nathan Coad, said the three programs will "help to better define the pathway for Referees in Tasmania and provide each level of referees with the support that they need to further advance their skills."
