Olympia comfortably overcame Riverside on Saturday afternoon despite going down to 10-men, running out 5-0 winners at Warrior Park. Olympia went two goals up inside seven minutes through Jack Ryan and Joffrey Nkoso before the Warriors goalkeeper was sent off in the 21st minute. It didn’t faze the Warriors and Nkoso scored a second just before the break. Olympia added two goals in the second-half through Ryan who bagged his brace and Nkoso who claimed his hat-trick in the 87th minute.
The Warriors may have dominated this encounter, but the first clear-cut chance fell to Riverside’s Aaron Campbell in the second minute when he broke down the left and found himself one-on-one, but his tame shot was hit straight at Kyle McDonald in goal for Olympia.
Just one minute later Jack Ryan opened the scoring for the Warriors when Nkoso’s tidy lay-off found the Englishman one-on-one and his powerful strike beat the keeper, despite Hill getting a hand to it.
Provider turned scorer in the 7th minute when Nkoso’s vicious strike cannoned off the crossbar, but fortunately for the youngster it fell straight back to his feet and he made no mistake with the second effort to make it 2-0 to the Warriors.
Olympia continued to threaten their opponents goal, but a rare Riverside attack looked as though they might get back into this one. Rhys Kinslow was released through the middle when Olympia’s keeper McDonald charged out of his box to challenge the striker. Kinslow’s touch rounded the keeper who obstructed the forward, and although he managed to keep his feet the referee Brenton Kopra called the foul and issued a red card to the goalkeeper. The decision raised some eyebrows and some voices inside Warrior Park with most admitting it was probably a foul and a slice of cheese but that it didn’t warrant a red.

It looked like it might get worse for the Warriors when Riverside Jasper King was brought down inside the box five minutes later. The winger made a mazy run down the left before getting inside the area. The Warriors tried to get it back but some contact on King’s hill took him to the floor in what looked a foul but Kopra wasn’t interested and waved play on.
After a few scares for the Warriors they gained their composure and added a third in the 41st minute with the two Olympia front-men linking up again. A filthy back hill from Ryan put Nkoso through with just the goalkeeper to beat. Nkoso faked a shot which fooled Hill before rounding him and rolling it into the net.

Olympia started the second half on the front-foot again. It only took another three minutes for Ryan to make it 4-0 and bag his brace. Jordan Scott played a high ball over the defence for his compatriot who used his body well to shield the bouncing ball and then turn his marker before hitting it into the back of the net with his left-peg.
The chances continued to fall the Warriors way, but it looked like it might just be the four goals for Olympia until Nkoso finally completed his hat-trick in the 87th minute. Olympia substitute Brayton Allan’s delicate touch fell to Nkoso who showed some real pace to break free of the Riverside defenders and smash a low-shot near-post into goal.
It would finish 5-0 in what was a tough road-trip for Riverside who find themselves with just one win from their six matches which has them in seventh. The Warriors moved up to third with the three points taking their total to 10 points, five behind league-leaders Devonport.
