2023 Referee Conference Wrap

The Football Tasmania Referee Conference was held on Sunday 22 January and saw 80 referees attend the annual event, with the aim of connecting with other referees and increasing their knowledge in various areas of the game.

Football Tasmania Deputy President and Director, Janine Healey, kicked off the conference with a welcome message. This was followed by 2022 highlights and a review of 2022 Law changes delivered by Football Tasmania’s Referee Development Manager, Nathan Coad.

The conference covered an introduction to Football Tasmania’s new competition management system, DRIBL, which was presented by Football Tasmania’s Competition Manager, Emma Brown.

Other topics included a presentation on dealing with dissent from RTC member, Adrian Lockley, and report writing presented by RTC member, Jean-Pierre Raymond.

Guest speaker Daniel Goodwin, Refereeing Engagement and Experience Lead (Football Australia) conducted a session on 2023 Law changes as well as an update from Football Australia.

Alex King, Full time A-League referee, shared his personal journey and answered general questions about all aspects of refereeing.
