Become a Referee - A First Year Referee's Experience

Become a referee in 2023

Rohan Kirkland, 14, of Wynyard became a referee to understand more about the game and how it is played from an official’s perspective, as well to earn some money.

Rohan’s highlight in his first year of refereeing career was being an assistant referee for his first senior men’s game.

“The next step in my refereeing career is to keep improving my skills and learning from more experienced referees,” said Rohan.

When asked what the best thing about refereeing is, Rohan said it was learning about the game and meeting new people.

“Others should become referees to further understand the game and meet new people [too].”

If you would like to make some extra money, or meet new people just like Rohan, then become a referee in 2023.
