Football Tasmania celebrated its annual Awards Night last night (Saturday, 12 September 2026) at Wrest Point in Hobart, awarding its highest honours for its seven most senior leagues and inducting five new members into the Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame was established in 2025 to honour, preserve, and celebrate Tasmanian football’s achievements and legacy by recognising its key contributors.
Football Tasmania Chief Executive Officer Tony Pignata OAM said: “The Hall of Fame recognises players, coaches, referees, administrators, media, and contributors who have made an enduring impact on football in Tasmania.
“We were thrilled with the response from our football community in just our second year, and it was a privilege to induct new members last night.”
Champions’ trophies and pennants, along with key honours, were also presented for the McDonald’s® NPL Tasmania, McDonald’s Women’s Super League and NPL Under 21s, and the Northern and Southern men’s and women’s championships for season 2026.
The top honours for Best and Fairest went to Lucy Foote – Devonport City Strikers (WSL), Samuel Berezansky – South Hobart (NPL) and Tristen Galt – Kingborough Lions (Under 21s). (See full list of award recipients below).
Mr Pignata congratulated all players and award winners for their commitment to the game in season 2026.
“Last night was an opportunity for these leagues to come together - along with special guests and friends - to celebrate another huge season and to acknowledge the achievements of our standout players and teams.
“I’d like to thank our partners, McDonald’s and Macron; club presidents and committees; and our many dedicated coaches, referees and volunteers, for making the season possible.”
South Hobart took out the McDonald’s NPL for the second consecutive year, earning them a place in Football Australia’s national second tier competition, the Australian Championships, to kick off next month, along with the McDonald's NPL Grand Final on Saturday 5 September.
Devonport City Strikers won the McDonald’s Women’s Super League for an incredible third consecutive year, as well as the Statewide Cup; and Kingborough Lions took out the men’s NPL Under 21s.
