Claire Green chosen for first A-League Women’s match

Football Tasmania has congratulated Tasmanian referee Claire Green for being selected to officiate her first A-League Women’s match (formerly known as the W-League). Ms Green will be an assistant referee for tomorrow night’s match between Brisbane Roar and Perth Glory to be played in Brisbane. Ms Green is a regular assistant referee in Tasmania and officiated the 2021 Lakoseljac Cup final. “It’s great to have been recognised from Tasmania and given this opportunity to progress with my refereeing career on a national level,” Ms Green said. “I have worked hard for many years to get to this point and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without all the coaches who have mentored me, and fellow referees for providing a good support system.” Football Tasmania CEO Matt Bulkeley said Ms Green’s appointment set a great example for young Tasmanian referees and players. “It’s fantastic to see Claire’s talent and hard work recognised on the national stage,” Mr Bulkeley said. “To have a Tasmanian officiating in the A-Leagues sends a message to both aspiring referees and players that Australia’s top competitions are in reach if they put in the hard work. “On behalf of the Tasmanian football community I wish Claire all the best and know that she will do us proud.” If you are interested in becoming a referee, please contact Football Tasmania on 6273 3299 or via Facebook.
