Claire Green chosen for National Stage

Football Tasmania has congratulated Tasmanian referee Claire Green for her appointment to the A-League Women (formerly known as the W-League) assistant refereeing panel. Ms Green, who begun refereeing seven years ago, becomes the third Tasmanian to reach the A-League Women assistant referee list behind Sarah Den Hartog and Lauren Hargrave, who ran the line in the 2021 W-League grand final. Ms Green is a regular assistant referee for NPL Tasmania and officiated the 2021 Lakoseljac Cup final. “It’s great to have been recognised from little Tasmania and given this opportunity to progress with my refereeing career on a national level,” Ms Green said. “I have worked hard for many years to get to this point and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without all the coaches who have mentored me, and fellow referees for providing a good support system.” Outgoing Football Tasmania Referee Manager Tony Peart said it was fantastic to see another Tasmanian woman follow in the footsteps of Den Hartog and Hargrave and be selected to officiate at the highest level in Australia. “Claire has been a pleasure to work with over the past four years, and her increased dedication to training over the past 12 months has seen her elevate the standards of her matchday performances to the required level for national competition,” he said. “Claire will now need to keep progressing and working hard if she is to gain regular appointments and work towards being considered for a place on the international list.” If you are interested in becoming a referee, please contact Football Tasmania on 62733299.
