Club milestone for Parsell with 200th game

Taroona FC club stalwart Daisy Parsell will celebrate her 200th senior game when the club’s WSL side hosts Launceston United tomorrow (Saturday, 24 June).

Parsell will become the first female to do so at Taroona.

Since 2010, she has played more than 380 games for the club in all competitions, including youth, and scored 111 goals.

Parsell said she felt proud and honoured to have reached the milestone.

“With the Women's World Cup coming up and my 200 milestone, the emotions are running pretty high because when I was little, girls just weren't represented in sport like they are now,” she said.

“To be part of club history for the club that I love and which has supported me through all the years is pretty amazing.”

In 2014, Parsell moved to Geelong for university and had a season with Deakin.

In 2015, she played half a season for North Geelong Warriors in their top senior women's league, before moving back to Tasmania half-way through the year and finishing off the season at Taroona.

“Apart from living away and my two pregnancies, I haven’t missed any seasons playing at Taroona at all since I was a child,” she said.

Club president Sam Johnson said the club was thrilled to mark this milestone with Parsell.

“Congratulations to Daisy, who is a stalwart of this club – we’re so proud of her and wish her all the best tomorrow and as she continues her footballing journey with us.

“We hope she has many more seasons to come!”
