The draws for the Semi Final stage of the 2019 Statewide Cup competitions have been held today at KGV Football House. The games will be played on the weekend of May 25/26, with kick off times and dates T.B.D.
In the Lakoseljac Cup, South Hobart and Olympia will renew their rivalry as they meet at Darcy Street in an all NPL TAS affair. Olympia won the season opening game 2-1 to break a winless run of 12 games against South, before the pair played out a wildly entertaining 3-3 draw in their most recent clash at Darcy Street.
In the second Semi Final, Championship side University's hopes of extending their underdog run have been given a boost by being drawn at home, but they will have to overcome the current holders in Devonport. The Strikers booked their place with a thrilling penalty shoot-out win over the Hobart Zebras whilst University thumped Somerset 5-0.
In the Women's Statewide Cup, the first Semi Final will throw up a rematch of the Summer Cup final as the Kingborough Lions take on the Olympia Warriors. That game went all the way to Extra Time and their meeting in the Super League was a tight 1-0 Warriors win as well, suggesting a close game is on the cards.
In the other Semi Final, the Hobart Zebras will be the overwhelming favourites as they take on Northern Championship side Northern Rangers. The Rangers will be hoping home ground advantage at the NTCA ground can help them spring the upset over the 2017 Champions.
In the Statewide Under 20s's Cup, after a Quarter Final stage that was filled with extra time action, it will be Launceston City playing host to Olympia, and Beachside welcoming a travelling Northern Rangers side to Sandown Park.
