The draws for the Semi Final stage of the Statewide Cup competitions have been completed today at KGV Football House.
In the Lakoseljac Cup the lone Northern side left in the running, Launceston City, will travel to Warrior Park to take on the 2017 Champions, Olympia Warriors. The other Semi Final will pit the side who probably sit as the current Cup favourites in the Glenorchy Knights up against the winner of the South Hobart v Kingborough Lions rematch, after South's 3-2 victory was deemed void following a team-sheet violation. The date of that rematch is yet to be determined and will be midweek at either KGV or Lightwood Park. The Semi Finals will then be played the week after the NPL Tasmania season concludes on the weekend of October 31, with the decider to be played the following week.
In the Women's Statewide Cup, it was good news for the Super League front runners, as the Clarence Zebras and Olympia Warriors avoided each other and also drew home games. The Warriors face the tougher of the two semi finals and will host a much improved South Hobart side at Warrior Park, whilst the Zebras will be red hot favourites in a Safari Derby semi Final against the Kingborough Lions at Wentworth Park. The Semi Finals will be played on the first weekend of November, with the final to be played the week after that.
It was good news for the Northern sides in the Statewide Under 20's competition as Riverside Olympic drew a home tie up against the Olympia Warriors, whilst the Somerset Sharks will play host to the Glenorchy Knights up at Cardigan Street.
