In a bumper Saturday of Cup football, Northern Rangers and Hobart United secured their places in the Lakoseljac Cup Round of 16, whilst a South Hobart and Olympia Summer Cup Final appears on the cards after they both walked away winners from the KGV Double Header.
In the Lakoseljac Cup, it was a lone goal from Wes Chugg that secured Northern Rangers passage to the next round as they overcame Ulverstone in an all Northern Affair. After a scoreless first half, Chugg scored early in the second half to put his side into the lead and from there they held on, defending stoutly to protect the lead and secure the win. It was a far less tense affair at Pembroke Park, where Hobart United brushed past South East United 8-0 in a dominant performance. With South East prioritising the Statewide Under 20's competition, they were undermanned for the match though United will still be delighted with the lopsided scoreline given the raft of player and coaching departures that disrupted their off season. The draw for the next stage of the Statewide Cup competitions will be completed on this Tuesday.

At KGV, a young South Hobart side took a giant stride towards the Cup Final, as they upset Glenorchy Knights 2-0. With a team loaded with teenagers, South held their own against a more experienced Knights side before overrunning them late on. The speed of the lightning Kasper Hallam proved the key to unlocking the Knights defence in what had been a real arm wrestle of a game, with chances at a premium. He helped set up both goals as Jacob Lancaster and Noah Gardner provided the finish to leave South on the cusp of qualifying for the final, needing just a point from there final group stage game against Kingborough.
The Warriors will await in the final, as they concluded their group stage with a perfect 4 wins from 4 by defeating Clarence Zebras 3-1 in the second game of the evening. They were made to work for the win with a Luke Huigsloot header giving the Zebras a lead at the half, but the Warriors impressive strength in depth proved the difference as the injection of the Brown boys swung the match. Callum would win a penalty which was converted by Jack Ryan, who then doubled his tally with a rocket shot soon thereafter before Brown sealed the result with a goal of his own late on.
