The Olympia Warriors officially sealed the 2020 Women's Super League title in utterly dominant fashion, smashing the Kingborough Lions 10-1 on Wednesday night with Golden Boot winner Bonnie Davies scoring six goals!
The Warriors were at their brilliant best for much of the night, scoring in the opening minute of the game from the first shot, as they dominated the contest and put an exclamation mark on the top of their WSL triumph.
It didn't take long for the Warriors party to begin as Davies raced in behind the defence following a headed flick on from Cane and slammed home her first of the night to give her side the lead just 50 seconds into proceedings.
Just past the 10 minute mark and the lead was doubled by Madi Chambers firing home from a tight angle.
The rain began to fall heavily and it was also raining goals as Bomford and Davies added to the score to make it 4-0 just past the half hour mark.
Chambers then stole the show with a stunning solo goal, picking the ball up in her own half before powering past 3 defenders and firing home from the angle to make it 5-0.
The game was somewhat overshadowed shortly before half time when Eva Edwards suffered a horrific looking ankle injury that prompted an early half time break.
When the action resumed it was Freya Downie who pulled one back for the Lions when Michael smacked a clearance into her shins.
But the Warriors were on a mission and they were determined to finish off the title victory in style as they ran out the game strong, adding five more goals in the final 20 minutes.
Davies was again central to it all, burning off a defender for her hat-trick before repeating the move with an added sharp turn to make it 7-1.
Olivia Bomford bagged her second as she slalomed through the defence before it was over to Davies to finish off the evening.
She added two more late goals to take her evening's tally to 6 goals and make it a remarkable 28 goals in just 14 WSL games.
The final score was 10-1 as the Warriors mathematically clinched the title they had all but sewn up 2 weeks earlier and the celebrations could begin.
They have been the most dominant side all year and are worthy winners, bouncing back from 2019 heart-break with the best possible response.
