Devonport Turns It On For 2019 National SAP Festival

Once again Devonport has played host to the National SAP Festival and once again it has proved a resounding success. The weather was stunning for the duration of the Festival, the football of high quality and Valley Road proved the perfect venue to host the event that welcomed 9 teams from around Australia as well as five local sides. The five Tasmanian sides who competed, Devonport Strikers, Olympia Warriors, Cradle Coast, South Hobart and a Tasmanian TSP Girls side, all represented their sides with distinction and showed off the skills they had acquired as part of their respective SAP programs. With the 9 teams from interstate coming from South Australia, Western Australia, Northern Territory and New South Wales, there was certainly no shortage of quality opposition for them to test themselves against. "The National SAP Festival continues to go from strength to strength and it has found a home in the City of Devonport. The support from all involved in helping to put on this event has been fantastic and we thank everyone for their efforts, especially the club volunteers who have worked so tirelessly behind the scenes." He said he hoped the festival would continue to grow over the coming years. "The fact a side has travelled all the way from Alice Springs to take part in the Festival shows how well it has been run and the national interest that exists in it." "We hope it can continue to build and the 2020 version will be even more attended. We would certainly love to see some more local sides competing, as its such a terrific opportunity for the young players in our state to showcase their skills and come up against peers from around the Country." The Game : Intervention : Game  (GIG) method. The GIG method of session delivery aims to provide a more enjoyable, engaging and development focused approach to SAP sessions. Having demonstrated the theory on Friday, on the Saturday after the action had wrapped up, Grima presented a practical session, showcasing the implementation of the new GIG method with the players.
