Fair Go for Football

It's time for Tasmania to give football a fair go

We need your support in letting our State Government know that it's time football was given a fair go. Football Tasmania's submission for more funding in the 2020/21 State Budget will be so much more powerful if you, your family and friends sign up at fairgofortasfootball.com.au/. The World Game is Tasmania’s most popular team sport, yet it continues to receive just a fraction of the funding provided to other sports like AFL and cricket, that have declining club-based participation. We need to be able to meet the continual growth in demand to play football, which is set to boom now that Australia and New Zealand have been selected to host the 2023 Women’s World Cup. Football Tasmania’s submission outlines the areas we believe are key to ensuring football can continue to flourish and enrich the lives of Tasmanians, ensuring everyone has access to our great game. These include:
  • greater access to and improvement of facilities for football,
  • increasing participation in lower socio-economic and regional areas,
  • pushing towards complete gender equity in football;
  • strengthening and raising the profile of our Women’s Super League and;
  • through dedicated resourcing, ensuring that Tasmania has the best possible opportunity to play a strong role in the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023.
Our football community is so large, we are in a great position to make our voice heard. Please join in the chorus and let Government know it’s time for a fair go for football. Over the coming weeks and months, we will let you know how you can have your say – keep an eye out on the Football Tasmania Facebook page and at https://fairgofortasfootball.com.au/ for more information.
