Farewell to Bob Gordon & welcome to new Board President Chris Brookwell

Football Tasmania’s members elected a new Board President tonight at its Annual General Meeting, and farewelled long-term President Bob Gordon.

Existing Board member Chris Brookwell – who joined the Board in March 2023 – will replace outgoing President Bob Gordon, who had served the maximum term as President under Football Tasmania’s constitution.

Mr Gordon was first elected as President on 28 February 2018, after joining the Board as a director in 2017.

Football Tasmania Chief Executive Officer Tony Pignata OAM thanked Mr Gordon for close to a decade of service to the game.

“Bob is a hugely experienced Board member, and his extensive knowledge of our great game and its history in Tasmania will be sorely missed,” he said.

“I am personally grateful to Bob for his support since he recruited me to Football Tasmania in 2023 and will miss his wise counsel and unrivalled understanding of the Tasmanian football scene.

“We wish him all the best in his next endeavours.

“I’d also like to congratulate Chris as our new Board President, and look forward to our ongoing work together as we continue to grow the game and push for a Home of Football in Tasmania.”

Incoming President Chris Brookwell said: "I would also like to express my thanks to Bob for his guidance and support during our time together on the Board.

“I am privileged to be elected as President of Football Tasmania.  Football plays a vital role in our communities, and I look forward to working with the clubs, participants and the team at Football Tasmania to grow and strengthen the game across the State.”
