Football Tasmania Female Only Skill Training Certificate,
19 females have started their Skill Training Certificate in Southern Tasmania. The course kicked off on Thursday 27th August and will carry on over the next 8 weeks, with the group meeting once a fortnight.
“I’m very pleased with the uptake for this course and everyone that attended did very well. The mix of ages from youth players to supportive parents showed how much of an engaging experience can be created,” stated Southern Regional Football Development Officer Matt Kilsby.
This course is aimed at community level coaches who are working with players aged between 9 and 12yrs of age.
The course covers the 4 core skills within the FFA National Curriculum, developing an understanding of building a training process but keeping in mind the age of the players we are supporting.
Football Tasmania Women’s Development Officer, Debra Banks, was in attendance. Banks commented, “The number of females on the course was a sign of the progress being made in the State to engage females in football and coaching. Creating an environment where females are supported, encouraged and valued was evident. This course will provide clubs and football associations with role models for future female coaches”
Football Tasmania would also like to thank Taroona FC for hosting this course and Leah Gubb for Co-Educating with our Football Development Officer.
