New floodlights at Ulverstone Showgrounds will help Ulverstone Soccer club go from strength-to-strength by enabling more training and playing time says Football Tasmania CEO Matt Bulkeley.
The lighting upgrade which was officially opened today by Federal Member for Braddon Gavin Pearce was made possible by a $210,000 Federal Government grant.
“It’s wonderful to see the new lights come on at the Ulverstone Showgrounds,” Mr Bulkeley said.
“As with many clubs across the state, access to sufficient playing and training space for our growing player base has been an issue holding Ulverstone back.
“By being able to train on more pitches each night of the week, even more players in the region from all age groups are able to enjoy the many benefits of our great game.
“I’d like to thank Gavin Pearce and the Federal Government for funding this important project and for his continued support of the World Game.”
Federal Member for Braddon, Gavin Pearce MP, congratulated the Ulverstone Soccer Club and Central Coast Council for delivering the project.
“Every time I open an upgrade to one of our region’s sporting facilities, it’s another sign of our government’s commitment to improving health and wellbeing within our local communities,” he said.
“This is not an investment in lights, it’s an investment in the thousands who will come to the Ulverstone Soccer Club and experience the many benefits that participating in a sport brings. Whether it’s physical fitness, mental wellbeing, making social connections, this investment will reap rewards many times over.”
