FOOTBALL TASMANIA AND MYSTATE BANK LAUNCH FUTURE LEADERS PROGRAM

Creating future leaders for football in Tasmania is the aim of a new program launched today by Football Tasmania and supported by MyState Bank.

The Future Leaders program is now open for expressions of interest, and aims to upskill future leaders to take on leadership roles in in football clubs across the State, including on Boards and Committees.

Football Tasmania Chief Executive Officer Matt Bulkeley said: “One of the key commitments to the football community in Tasmania through Football Australia’s Legacy ‘23 program is investment in future leaders.

“Women make up just 10% of the boards of football clubs and governing bodies around the world, and they are also underrepresented in the areas of coaching and refereeing.

“This course is designed to support and develop those who currently hold or are seeking leadership opportunities in our great sport.

“The program is open to all members of our football community, and we especially encourage women to apply.”

MyState Bank Chief Executive Officer Brett Morgan said the Future Leaders program was the first of its kind in Tasmanian football.

“Leadership can change the game whether you’re on the field, off the field, in a boardroom, classroom or workplace,” Mr Morgan said.

“Ensuring we have gender diversity in those leadership roles is critical and that’s why the inaugural Future Leaders program is so important.

“With the FIFA Women’s World Cup kicking off in Australia and New Zealand in July, now is the time to take advantage of this spotlight and inspire the next generation of women players, coaches, referees and administrators.

“At MyState Bank, we’re proud to support both the Women’s Super League and the Future Leaders program. We share in Football Tasmania’s goal of 50:50 gender participation by 2027, because as a Tasmanian based bank we’ve set and met our target of 50 per cent representation of women in leadership roles.”

Expressions of interest close at 5pm on Monday, 17 April. For more information and to apply, visit: Future Leaders’ Program | Football Tasmania
