FOOTBALL TASMANIA CEO MATT BULKELEY ANNOUNCES HIS RESIGNATION

Football Tasmania Board chairman Bob Gordon has thanked Football Tasmania Chief Executive Officer Matt Bulkeley for his service, after Mr Bulkeley announced his resignation today after five years at the helm of the sport’s governing body.

Mr Bulkeley will finish in mid-September - after the end of the current football season - to assist the organisation with the transition to a new CEO.

Football Tasmania chairman Bob Gordon said the Board was grateful to Mr Bulkeley for his tireless service to the beautiful game in the State.

“Matt’s time with us has had many highlights, for which he can rightly take credit,” Mr Gordon said.

“These include the continued growth in football participation in Tasmania; more than $50 million flowing into the upgrades of football facilities; securing A-League content for Tasmania, including the first ever A-League Women’s match in the State; a substantial increase in revenue into the game, including major partnerships with MyState Bank and McDonald’s; the development of our Facilities Strategy; and helping both the sport and the organisation navigate the challenges and uncertainties of COVID.

“Matt will leave us in September with our best wishes for him and his family.

“The Board will immediately begin a recruitment process to find his replacement.”

Mr Bulkeley and said it had been a privilege to lead the organisation and the sport’s development in Tasmania.

“I remain truly grateful for the trust and commitment the Board, under Bob’s leadership, has placed in me throughout that time,” he said.

“I am immensely proud of what we have achieved to progress the growth of football in Tasmania.

“Football is a sport I have been passionate about and actively involved in for my entire life, and I know this will continue; but professionally I feel that it is the right time for me and my family to make this change.

“I am looking forward to my next chapter, which I hope will allow me the opportunity to pursue some other interests.”

Mr Bulkeley also thanked the team at Football Tasmania for their support during his tenure.

“They are a passionate, loyal, hard-working and committed group of people who are motivated to make football better in this State,” he said.

“I want to thank them sincerely for their professional and personal support, and wish them and the rest of our broader football family all the very best.

“I look forward to working with the Board and the team on the transition to a new CEO over the coming months.”
