Football Tasmania recognises volunteers

As football clubs and players across the state prepare for the resumption of training, Football Tasmania is paying tribute to the people who make organised football activity possible – the volunteers who dedicate hundreds of hours each year to the sport. Football Tasmania CEO Matt Bulkeley said the World Game, like many other community sports, relied upon the hard work and dedication of thousands of volunteers to operate smoothly. “Volunteers are absolutely the lifeblood of grassroots football in Tasmania,” Mr Bulkeley said. “Without the hardworking club committee members, team coaches and managers and people who help in canteens, it would be impossible for Tasmania’s most played team sport to continue. “On behalf of the Tasmanian football community, I would like to thank all volunteers for their dedication and commitment to their clubs and to the sport. “Sometimes this effort can be taken for granted, but I think football’s suspension has given every Tasmanian player and supporter a chance to reflect upon all the work that goes into making football possible as we get ready to kick-off the season in the coming months. “I’m sure many volunteers enjoyed some extra spare time while football was suspended, but I know for a fact they are itching to getting back to their local clubs of a weekend as soon as its safe to do so. “Football Tasmania looks forward to the chance to celebrate volunteer efforts appropriately once football is back in full-swing, but in the meantime we encourage all players and supporters to thank those volunteers for the countless hours they give to sport.”
