Football Tasmania thanks Minister Howlett, welcomes Minister Street

Football Tasmania has welcomed the appointment of Nic Street as Minister for Sport and Recreation, also paying tribute to outgoing Minister Jane Howlett.

Football Tasmania CEO Matt Bulkeley said Minister Howlett had contributed greatly to the growth of football over the past two years.

“Minister Howlett has been a tremendous advocate for football in Tasmania and we thank her for supporting the growth of Tasmania’s most played team sport,” Mr Bulkeley said.

“I’d also like to thank the Minister for going above and beyond in supporting all grassroots sports in Tasmania to get through the difficult circumstances presented by the pandemic.

“With upcoming A-League games and the potential for Women’s World Cup basecamps, Minister Howlett has helped see football come a long way. We are pleased to be able to continue our relationship in her new capacity as Minister for Events and Hospitality to bring even more high-level content to the state.”

Mr Bulkeley welcomed Minister Street to the Sport and Recreation portfolio.

“Having played a key role in the upgrade of Lightwood Park, Minister Street has shown he is a strong supporter of football and we look forward to continue working with him to progress the World Game in Tasmania.”
