Football Tasmania has welcomed Federal Labor’s commitment last week to a facility upgrade at Tynwald Park if elected to govern.
The upgrades would include improvements to changing room facilities for the New Norfolk Panthers.
The Tynwald Park component forms part of a broader $5 million commitment to partner with the Derwent Valley Council to deliver the New Norfolk Sports Package.
Football Tasmania CEO Matt Bulkeley said the promise came at the right time for football in New Norfolk, calling on all major parties to recognise its value.

“I’d like to thank Labor and Brian Mitchell for recognising the value of grassroots community sport,” Mr Bulkeley said.
“We know there is great passion for football in the Derwent Valley, with the New Norfolk Panthers going from strength to strength with both male and female senior teams and junior teams for boys and girls
“It’s vital that football infrastructure keeps pace with this growth, so that every person who wants to play football in New Norfolk has the opportunity to do so with safe, comfortable and up-to-date facilities.
“Sport plays such a vital role in our communities, and we call on all major parties to get behind this project, and others to ensure that positive health and social outcomes are realised regardless of the election result.”
