Football Tasmania’s Talent Support Program (TSP) sees success in National Tournaments

During September and October, Football Tasmania’s Talent Support Program (TSP) participated in several National Tournaments across the country.

State of Origin

The Under 14s Boys team kicked things off with a pre-tournament match against Western United's Academy 14s defeating the academy side 4-2.

The Under 14s went on to play four matches in the State of Origin Tournament held at the Darebin International Sports Centre, Victoria from September 18-21. The Under 14 side came away with one win, two draws and a loss. Full match results can be found below.

Western United Ballarat Cup

The Under 13 and 14 combined TSP Girls team participated in the Western United Ballarat Cup in Victoria from September 22-24 and was Tasmania's first entry in the Tournament.

The team finished first in Group A but narrowly lost the semi-final two nil after some fantastic results in the group stage.

They also had the second highest goal count per match among the teams in Girls U13/14 with an average of 4.5 goals per match. They finished with the third highest goal count among all teams with 27 goals overall.

The team rounded out the tournament with a friendly match against Melbourne Victory.

Shepparton Cup

Last week Football Tasmania’s Talent Support Program (TSP) had four teams that competed in the Shepparton Cup in Victoria.

The Shepparton Cup is Victoria’s largest junior football tournament and saw teams play at the Shepparton Sports City and Mooroopna Reserve.

The North/North West U13s Copa team finished in fifth spot on the ladder with four draws and a loss.

The Statewide U14s finished in third place on the ladder for Group B with three draws and came second in the Plate Finals.

The Southern U13s Copa team finished in first place for Group A with three wins and two draws. They had the highest goal count per match among the teams in U13 Copa averaging 1.8 per match. They also had the highest goal count among the U13 Copa teams with 11 overall.

The Southern U13s Liga squad finished in first place in group A with two wins and two draws. They came second in the Cup Finals. The team also had the third highest goal count per match among the U13 Liga teams with 1.8 and the third highest goal count among the U13s Liga teams with 9 overall.
