The final two games of the Men's Summer Cup group stage will be staged at KGV on Friday night with South Hobart needing just a point to secure their passage through the final.
South will take on the Kingborough Lions in the first game of the double header at 6:15pm and are in the box seat to progress through to the March 14 decider against Olympia. Sitting on six points after three games, South know a point against the winless Lions is all they require tonight, but even if they were to lose they could still progress. Sitting in third on 3 points are the Clarence Zebras, who take on the Glenorchy Knights at 8:30pm in game #2 and with a win in that fixture, coupled with a South Hobart loss they would jump level on points. With Knights on 2 points after 3 games, they cannot qualify for the final. The first tie-breaker in the scenario of both South and Zebras ending on 6 points is goal difference, which South currently have a +3 differential whilst the Zebras are on -1. If South lost by 2 goals and the Zebras won by 2 then the two teams would also be tied on goal difference, so goals scored would become the tie-breaker. South currently hold that edge too, having scored 6 goals to the Zebras 5 so far. If goals tied were to also be level after tonight's games, then South Hobart would progress due to having won the game played between the two sides earlier in the tournament. The double header will once again be used a fundraiser for the National Bushfire appeal. Ticket prices are Adults $6, Concession $3 and Children under 12 free. For those unable to attend, both games will be live streamed, however this is a part of the testing process for the new setup being implemented for the NPL in Season 2020, and so some technical glitches are to be expected. If you want to guarantee catching both games, then make sure you get along.
