A team-sheet error has forced a rematch of the Lakoseljac Cup Quarter Final between South Hobart and the Kingborough Lions after it was found that South had erroneously named Kasper Hallam as a starter and Tobias Herweynen as a substitute on their officially submitted team sheet in their 3-2 Cup victory on Sunday.
With the names directly underneath each other it was determined by Football Tasmania that it was a case of boxes being incorrectly ticked on the sheet and a rematch was decided as the fairest solution, with no direct precedent or specific ruling within the Competitions Rules to base the decision off.
The case differs from previous instances where teams have fielded ineligible players which has seen results overturned to a 3-0 forfeit, which is specifically addressed within the competition rules.
Football Tasmania released the following statement.
Football Tasmania has determined that The Lakoseljac Cup quarter final match between South Hobart and Kingborough will be replayed due to a breach of s1.12 of the 2020 Statewide Cup Rules:
“1.12 Team Sheets
The team sheet must contain the names and shirt numbers of the players taking part in the match, including the names of the nominated substitutes AND all team officials.”
In accordance with Law 3 section 5 of the FIFA Laws of the Game, the match continued with no sanction against any player at the time, and the matter was reported to Football Tasmania for attention.
Football Tasmania accepts that the breach was an administrative error, however to preserve the integrity of the competition the match will be replayed.
The replay will be mid-week at a time and venue to be determined with the semi finals to continue as scheduled.
The Lakoseljac Cup Semi Final draw will be conducted as normal with the to be determined winner of the replay drawn out.
The rematch is set to be held midweek at either KGV or Lightwood Park, with the date and time TBD. The winner will take on Glenorchy Knights in the Semi Final stage of the competition, who were drawn out as the home side in the Cup draw held earlier today at Grove Road.
