Gender Equity Self-Assessment Tool

How do you creating a place for women in football at your club?

Women make incredible valuable contributions to clubs and communities and the more women and girls are encouraged into football, the stronger our game will be.

However we are still facing some major barriers in achieving gender equity in our sport.

To address this and to be leaders in creating an equitable place in football I would like to invite  your involvement and participation in the Gender Equity Self-Assessment Tool.

The University of Tasmania is supporting the role out of the tool as they would like to collect the data. This means the data can be used to show commonalities and be used to identify the best way to direct resources. Clubs will not be identified.

Here is the link to the tool.

To reduce any burden of extra work on clubs, Football Tasmania's Women’s Development Officer, Debra Banks, will meet club representatives to run through the tool. When it comes to matters of gender equity it is vital that clubs are shinning a light on their successes and challenging any barriers they may have.

Football is the most widely played and watched sport in the world but barriers such as stereotyping, lack of representation and discrimination are still existing in our beautiful game.

The tool is consistent with the Sport 2030 National Sport Plan’s commitment that “Every Australian, at all stages of their life regardless of gender, ability or ethnicity, and no matter where they live, are able to undertake the exercise they need and want in a safe, fun and exclusive way.

The FFA’s Gender Equity Action Plan 2019 states that central to the plan is the realisation of 50/50 grassroots participation for males and females.

Let’s focus on 2020 as a new beginning for gender equity at your club.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me for more info and to book your club representatives in for the gender equity self-assessment tool one on one session.
