Golden Boot Major Prize Up For Grabs On Final Day

With eight of the nine positions on the table locked in placer as we head into the final day, the main attraction of the afternoon will be the Mathew Sanders v Miles Barnard Golden Boot battle. Sanders, who takes on Riverside holds the advantage heading into the day, with 29 goals to the Fox in the Box's 28. His Zebras side will be favourites to score goals against a Riverside defence that has leaked goals on their trips south previously, although their form has certainly improved as the year has worn on, and they will give the Zebras a good test in what will be Sanders final game for the club. In what would normally be a headline game, South Hobart meet Devonport at Darcy Street, and with neither side able to go up or down on the table, with the pressure shackles released we should have an entertaining game as a result.  Barnard scored a hat-trick the last time he played South, so despite the tougher game he will still fancy himself, especially with South slowing down of late, with an another injury crisis hitting. The only sides that can move up or down are Launceston City and Kingborough who will be battling it out for sixth place. The Lions currently hold a two point gap to City, and a draw against the Glenorchy Knights should be enough for them to hold onto it. It would mean City would need to beat Olympia by 3 goals. A win to the Lions and sixth is locked up regardless of what happens at Warrior Park. If the Knights beat the Lions though, and given their strong finish to the season, that's very much a possibility, then City could leap the Lions if they were to upset Olympia. Given the respective performances of the sides that remains an outside prospect, though. Once the action is over, all eyes will turn to Wrest Point Casino for the 2019 NPL and WSL awards night, with a host of major awards set to be distributed.
