A 92nd minute winner from Adam Mckeown saw the Kingborough Lions defeating the Olympia Warriors 3-2 to claim a fourth place finish at the expense of their defeated opponents. The last gasp header came after just moments after Anthony Mamic had appeared to have done enough for the Warriors to hold onto fourth with his 89th minute leveler, before Douce set up Mckeown to cap off a wonderful season for the veteran front man.
The Warriors took the lead on 22 minutes when Ben Hamlett forced a turnover wide on the right, fed it through to Callum Brown who drove into the area, beat a defender, before cutting inside and driving home pas the keeper.
But the Lions conjured a quick response when they drew level from the penalty spot just five minutes later via captain Danny Cowen who smashed home his spot kick to restore parity.
They then took the lead before the break in a familar manner, as set piece maestro Chris Downes stepped up and curled home a trademark free kick from just outside the box.
It looked as if that goal would be enough for the Lions but the Warriors struck late as a flick from the centre circle landed in front of Anthony Mamic, with defenders on either side he calmly collected the ball, strode in on goal and slotted it home to level the scores just as regular time expired.
The late drama was not done however, as in the 92nd minute Keenan Douce drove down the right with the ball and drilled a cross into the middle of the box, it found a cluster of players but Adam Mckeown somehow got to it to head home from close range and secure a dramatic late winner.
It saw the Kingborough Lions running out 3-2 winners and finish the season in fourth place, which represents a big tick for coach Jez Kenth who has done an outstanding job with this group.
The Warriors meanwhile will look back on a disappointing year, and whilst they were able to blood some young players, a title challenge was the expectation for this group with their fifth place finish a long way off that.
