Lions earn a point as South slip up

South Hobart threw away a 2-0 lead over Kingborough but still walked away with a point after the home side failed to complete their comeback, with a 3-3 final score at Lightwood Park. Kasper Hallam continued his scoring form, notching an early brace. His first came off the counter attack from the middle of the pitch as two Lions defenders ran into each other. That gave Hallam all the space he needed as he sprinted forward to slot it home past Lions goalkeeper keeper Sheku Kamara for the opener. Hallam was involved once again shortly after, getting the slightest of touches off his head from a corner giving the visitors a two-goal buffer despite Lions having most of the attacking play. The Lions hard work finally paid dividends when former South player Ben Hamlett also struck on a counter attack, hitting a shot into the bottom left corner past Nick O'Connell and making the scoreline 2-1 at half-time. Adam McKeown and Kobe Kemp completed the unlikely comeback in the opening moments of the second-half, but South had one more trick up their sleeves, courtesy of Nick Morton. Morton was taken out by Byungtae Ahn in the box, giving Tony Peart no hesitation in pointing to the spot and awarding the penalty. Morton buried it home, which made the final score 3-3. A huge point for South on the road, but both teams needed the full four points. The Lions, with their second draw in two weeks, continued their consistently inconsistent ways.
