Kingborough Lions have cruised to a 5-0 win over bottom placed University SC on a balmy twilight night at Lightwood Park. The goal-fest was completed by five individual scorers including two incredible strikes in the second half from the Bonertz-Benn sisters Kate and Holly.
Selection news saw Kingborough name a strong XI including the return Erika Mackintosh to the Lions net, though she was substituted in the opening minutes for Olivia Gardner. University made one change to the team welcoming back Nadia Dandolo who started on the bench.

After a goalless half an hour Davis opened the Kingborough account. Davis charged her way through the midfield corridor and once in the box hammed it home into the bottom left past University keeper Rhiannon Steele.
De Smit made it two shortly after, dribbling around the Students defence before hitting a wonderful curling shot which flew into the top right corner. That proved to be the final action of the first-half as the home side went into the sheds with the 2-0 buffer.
Kate Bonertz-Benn opened the second-half in quite remarkable fashion. Getting onto a simple pass on the right wing, she cut inside, nutmegging a defender before letting fly from 25 yards out. Her shot sailed through the air and ended up catching the upright to land past the keeper for a memorable goal.
Her sister Holly produced an equally fine effort, when she picked her angle perfectly and shot with finesse into the top left with style from outside the box later on in the half.

Super sub Jessica Shreeve then finished the scoring with yet another goal from range. Shreeve worked her way into the midfield and shot for home over the head of Steele with a long looping effort that dropped in for the final goal of the game.
Kingborough's win helps make a big stamp in their quest for a top 3 finish and they will now head to Wentworth Park for a big clash against 2nd placed Clarence Zebras. University will turn their focus to hosting South Hobart which will no doubt be another stern test for the Bees.
