Football Tasmania is urging clubs to Make It Red and get on board with the Heart Health Round in Round 5.
Clubs can sign up for the campaign – and wear a splash of red during their Round 5 matches – to raise awareness for heart health by simply visiting #MakeitRed 2025.
The national campaign aims to raise awareness and funds to support life-saving heart research and help prevent heart-related deaths on the sporting field.
To launch our partnership with Heartbeat of Football last month, free #HeartHealthMatters checks were held at NPL and WSL games at KGV in Hobart on March 21, and Birch Avenue and Prospect Park in Launceston on March 22.
Heartbeat of Football Foundation founder Andy Paschalidis said: “The data was quite alarming – of the 84 people tested, 87 per cent of them at these activations were referred to do further tests with their GP, based on our simple blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar readings.
“Having these heart health checks proved what we already know – that many of us need to take better care of our heart health, and that we need to make time for ourselves to have these tests, which can help prevent cardiac incidents.”
Football Tasmania Chief Executive Officer Tony Pignata said: “I encourage all clubs to get behind us on this important mission to improve player health and safety across Tasmania.”
