Lions Roar Back To Down Zebras

Match Highlights Package
City Hold Champions at Valley Road
Launceston City continued their fantastic week, as they held the Champions Devonport to a stalemate 0-0 draw at Valley Road. Lachie Clark was superb once again between the sticks as City ended the Strikers' 16-game winning streak against them. They almost took all 3 points right at the death too when Thierry Swaby found himself one one-on-one with the keeper, but Noah Calamatta came up big to deny the Englishman.
Final Score
Devonport Strikers 0
Launceston City 0
Match Highlights
South Maintain Winning Start
South Hobart continued their unbeaten run to the NPL season, bouncing back from their Lakoseljac Cup disappointment with a 3-1 road win over Launceston United. It made it three consecutive 3-1 wins to start their season, although this one probably would've been larger if not for some quality goalkeeping from Noah Curtis, who produced some super stops in United's net to limit the damage.
Final Score
Launceston United 1 (A.Kenneh 43')
South Hobart 3 (H.Oates 39', A.Gorrie 41', A.Yost 74')
Knights Continue To Dominate
The Glenorchy Knights maintained top spot on the table with another emphatic victory, this time dispatching Riverside Olympic 8-1. The Knights dominated this one from start to finish and have now scored 26 times across 4 competitive matches this season, conceding just once. Whilst they are yet to face any real potential title rivals, you can only beat what's in front of you, and the Knights have done so in ruthless fashion. They face South Hobart at Darcy Street next week in a massive top-of-the-table clash, as the fixture difficulty ramps up for them and the real tests begin.
Final Score
Glenorchy Knights 8 (J.Redfearn 12' 46', R.Dillon 26', S.Cordwell 52' 61', T.Walpole 57' 86', N.Naden 84')
Riverside Olympic 1 (A.Marshall 87')
City Claim Midweek Derby Honours
Before Round 3 kicked off, Launceston City and Riverside Olympic met in a midweek catch up game from Round 1 after the postponement. It was City who exploded out of the blocks and quickly raced to a 2-0 lead inside the opening 10 minutes. Thierry Swaby then scored a stunning solo goal before halftime to make it 3-0 and despite the Roos utterly dominating the second half, they could make no inroads into the City lead and it remained 3-0 by full time.
Final Score
Riverside Olympic 0
Launceston City 3 (D.Murfet 3', M.Wilcox 8', T.Swaby 38')
