Lions Run Rampant and Annihilate Roos

The Kingborough Lions scored a remarkable 13 times in the second half to storm to one of the biggest victories in Women's Super League history and smash Riverside 15-1 at Windsor Park. Hannah Walsh helped herself to six goals to thrust herself into the thick of the Golden Boot race, whilst Danielle Kannegiesser bagged five of her own in the demolition job. The damage all came in the second half, with the first 45 minutes offering little hint of what was to come, with the Lions taking just a 2-0 lead into the break, having ridden their luck at times with Riverside coming close to scoring on multiple occasions. But the second half was all one-way traffic as the Lions tore through the defence and scored with ease, storming to win by 14 goals.

Final Score

Riverside Olympic 1 (S.Higgins 79’)

Kingborough Lions 15 (C.Lashmar 9’ 57’ 75’, D.Kannegiesser 12’48’49’61’64’, H.Walsh 54’ 55’ 65’ 70’ 86’ 90’, T.Wills 78’)
