A Noah Mies hat-trick fired Launceston City to a comfortable 4-1 win over Clarence United at Wentworth Park but it was Jackson Ebini who provided the highlight of the day with a stunning solo goal.
In a difficult day conditions wise for players, it was a fairly scrappy first 30 minutes in the high winds that were blowing across Wentworth Park.
But City took the lead within the opening 10 minutes, Isaac Degetto charging down the right before squaring it back to Noah Mies. The Striker took a touch to steady himself before firing home an unstoppable shot to get his side off and running.
Somewhat surprisingly that would be the only scoring in the first 45 minutes, as the Clarence defence did well under increasing pressure and a number of shots that City just couldn't quite find the back of the net with. They had a few moments of their own on the counter, and would've been happy to head into the sheds just a goal adrift.
As the game ticked past the hour mark, the Reds remained with striking distance if they could sneak one, but those hopes were then rocked when Adam Hedge sent Noah Mies tumbling in the box.
Up stepped Mies who duly dispatched the spot kick emphatically to double the advantage and provide some breathing room.
Mies was then gifted his hat-trick when Dyson passed the ball straight to him whilst outside of the penalty box. Leaving Mies with a simple snipe from long range into the empty net to make it 3-0 and all but finish the contest.
Jackson Ebini then stepped up and provided the highlight of the day with a simply stunning hit from range. Winning the ball back on the left wing, Ebini then cut inside, got past a defender before unleashing a stunning shot that flew top corner from long range. It pulled it back to 3-1 and was another cap in the feather of a player who has stood out in difficult circumstances this season.
City would have the final say though, as Martin Mitreski beat his defender all ends up before finessing a fine strike from 25 yards into the top corner of the net, lifting it home and securing the 4-1 win for his side.
