A fun day of MiniRoos football was the perfect recipe to help boost the students' spirits at Huonville Primary School after the recent bushfires that caused so much damage to the region.
FT WDO Debra Banks and Football Participation officers Ben Horgan and Albie Hooper headed down to the school with the inflatable target shooter and a bunch of fun games for the kids to take part in, in a bid to help lift morale.
The bush fires that decimated so much of Tasmania's land have provided tough times for so many of the children at the school, but there were plenty of smiling faces as they took part in the days activities.
FT WDO Debra Banks said that she was glad to be able to chip in and help out in the community.
"It was great to be able to help bring some joy and help the kids forget about the fires for a while, its a section of the community that has been hit hard, so its's nice to step in and do our little bit.
She said it showed the power of football
"Football can be such a great vessel for so much in our lives, and using it to help cope with tough times. It's the perfect community sport and in this time, that sense of community is obviously all the more important."
