Riverside Olympic secured their second victory of the season in resounding fashion, downing Kingborough 3-0 at Windsor Park and in the process condemning their cross town rivals to the wooden spoon.
The first half saw both sides battling trying conditions, with wind a significant factor and neither side quite able to find anything special in the final third. The Lions shaded the attacking action, but merely had a raft corners to show for it and the scores remained locked at 0-0 to the half time break.
It didn't take long to spark into life in the second half though, as within a minute of the restart, Max Reissig's thumped a long ball that sprung Fletcher Fulton through on goal and the youngster made no mistake as he fired past Hayers.
Having squandered a good chance several minutes earlier, the lively Spainard Nil Sanz then doubled the hosts lead with a delightful volley on his left foot.
The Roos had a major spring in their step after the second, having caught the scent of victory and despite passing up a couple of chances to drive the nail into the coffin, the sealer arrived on 79 minutes.
It was a scrappy goal that Aaron Campbell prodded goalwards which deflected off the Lions substitute Martin and into the back of the net to make it 3-0.
The win was slightly soured late on with Liam Gilmore was stretchered off and spotted on crutches post game, but it couldn't overshadow the breakthrough victory for Riverside who ensured a 7th place finish with the result, condemning cross town rivals Launceston City to the wooden spoon.
