Ryan Double Secures Warriors Win

A brace from Jack Ryan has secured the Olympia Warriors their second win of the season, as they accounted for Launceston City 2-1 at Warrior Park. The English marksman opened the scoring with a close range header in the first minute of the game before doubling his tally from the penalty spot in the first half. After squandering a host of chances to extend their lead in the second half, the Warriors were made to sweat it late on when Alex Rossetto pulled one back for City with his back post volley but it was too little too late for the visitors who remain rooted to the foot of the table. Noah Mies was unable to take his spot up top for City due to coming down with a sickness bug but Launceston did welcome back Robert Gerrard after serving a two match suspension. Warriors captain and center-back Lucas Hill was welcomed back into the lineup for his first game of the season after injury sidelined him out of the previous four matches. Ryan picked up the pieces and headed home into an open net to give the Eastern Shore side the breakthrough goal early. Warren Wadawu and City's Lindsay Millington collided bodies hard in the penalty box before half time which led to Referee Monty Piesse awarding a spot kick to the Warriors. Ryan stepped up and finished with ease into the bottom right past Nash to give Olympia a two goal buffer heading into the break. The Warriors started the better of teams in the second half with numerous attacking plays. Unfortunately for them their shots off target exceeded the on target which looked like it could prove costly with the end result. Alex Rossetto gave City a lifeline before stoppage time after getting onto a great cross from Englishman Rob Gerrard from the wing. Rosetto hit true on the volley past Warriors keeper Darby Randall into the bottom left and suddenly we had a contest. Olympia will be back at their stomping grounds next Saturday hosting the vibrant second placed Kingborough Lions next Saturday in what should be a ripping clash. Launceston will be back at Buckby Land Rover Park hosting another Eastern Shore club in Clarence Zebras. This will be the first time the two have met officially following the Clarence United, Hobart Zebras merger. https://youtu.be/LnricPo_suA
