Football Tasmania has today (21 February) released the fixtures for the 2023 McDonald’s National Premier Leagues and the MyState Women’s Super League competitions across the State, beginning 17 March.
The season will feature games on Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays across Tasmania from March until September.
The McDonald's NPL will feature eight teams - Clarence Zebras, Glenorchy Knights, Kingborough Lions, South Hobart, Riverside Olympic, Devonport City Strikers, Launceston City and newcomers Launceston United. The MyState WSL will feature Launceston United, Clarence Zebras, Kingborough Lions, South Hobart, Devonport City Strikers and Taroona.
Football Tasmania CEO Matt Bulkeley said: “This year we welcome Launceston United into the NPL – meaning that for the first time, there are four teams each in the North/North-West and South – and the introduction of a State-wide under-21s NPL development program.
“For the first time in many years in our NPL competition, we will conclude our season with a final series – the ladder leader at the end of the home and away season will be our 2023 champions; however, finals will also be played past this point for a final series winner.
“Our WSL competition goes to a six-team competition this year, losing the bye round. We will see a two week break mid-season for our women’s program, while we celebrate the FIFA Women’s World Cup across Australia as the host nation for 2023.
“We wish all teams the best of luck for the season, and look forward to getting underway.”
