South Hobart have held off a second half comeback from Kingborough Lions to claim a 3-2 win in a Saturday night thriller at Lightwood Park. South's Bradley Lakoseljac opened the scoring in the first half and Nick Morton picked up a quick brace in the second. Lion's Striker Adam Mckeown was able to score a brace in his own right late on but it was too little too late and South came away with the 3 points.
Selection news saw the home side retain second choice keeper Jake Hayers while set-piece maestro Chris Downes warmed the pine while South named a very strong XI with the only exception being winger Kasper Hallam who was named as a substitute, nursing an apparent injury.
Lakoseljac made the early breakthrough on the 15th minute mark after some great combination lead up play by from Toby Herweynen and Nick Morton. Herweynen sent in a great long ball to Morton who brought it down and sent in a cross to the lying in wait Lakoseljac. Lakoseljac was almost directly in the net before the ball was shot as it was an open gap for a tap in.
It was a very uneventful half to say the least and South went into the sheds with a 1-0 lead.

Morton kicked off the second half in style after picking up the pieces from Sam Berezansky's efforts. Berezansky's shot was initially saved by Hayers but Morton charged down Cowen's attempted clearance and blocked the ball into the back of the net. The buffer was extended further soon after when Kasper Hallam darted down the wing to send in a low driven ball to Morton. Morton danced around the defence and got onto an acute angle to finish in the bottom right with power. It was 3-0 and you could of easily said it was game over.
But the Lions showed some late fight and pulled one back as Vincent Turner and Keenan Douce combined wonderfully for the Lions first. Turner sent in a long ball to Douce who somehow caught it on the volley to set it up for McKeown. McKeown was able to get the service for a low header past South keeper Mark Moncur to bring the scores back to 3-1.

James Hall and Keenan Douce set up the second shortly after. Hall made a simple pass to Douce and Douce heaved in a cross to the waiting Adam McKeown who headed home into the top left to set up a grandstand finish. It was too little too late however as the final whistle sounded shortly after despite Lions thinking they had scored but they were denied by the linemans flag.
South come away with the points and now will set their focus on a Saturday afternoon clash with Clarence Zebras back at D'Arcy St. The Lions despite their second half comeback leave the Den with no points and now face the trip up North to Windsor Park for an away clash with Riverside Olympic.
