It took them over an hour to find the breakthrough goal but eventually South Hobart overcame Riverside 3-0 in Sunday afternoon NPL TAS action.
Having been held to a 0-0 draw by the Northerners in a meeting earlier this season, it seemed like history may have been repeating, as South struggled to find the opening goal in the game.
Despite dominating the first half, the goal would not come for South as a combination of the woodwork and some stellar Jarrod Hill goalkeeping conspired to deny them. Three times they hit the post in a half that saw them out shoot their opponents 13-1, but with nothing to show for it by the time the half time whistle sounded.
But on 63 minutes, it was youngster Ewan Larby who finally got the breakthrough! He turned Jones in the box and picked out the bottom corner of the net.
That seemed to snap Riverside into life and they would produce their best 10 minutes of the game, threatening to draw back level with shots from Wademan and Campbell.
But South would get the insurance goal their play had demanded when an own goal deflected off Prince. Adam Gorrie drilled the cross in from the right wing and it deflected off the centre back and into the back of the net.
They added a third and final goal in stoppage time too, as Morton fired into the top corner of the net. Pouncing on a Ccalamitous turnover at the back, Morton worked it away from Hill after he had blocked one save, before it spilled back to Morton to fire home.
It secured a 3-0 win for South who continue to push for second place on the table and will want to maintain a winning run to end the season, with the game against the Central Coast Mariners awaiting them.
