South Hobart FC have drawn a home FFA Cup tie against the NPL NSW side, and former NSL powerhouse, the Marconi Stallions.
The Stallions are one of the most famous clubs in Australian Football and should pose a tough test for South, who took on a NSW based opponent in Sydney Utd 58 in their last FFA Cup venture.
They currently occupy ninth place on the NPL NSW table this season with six wins, a draw and nine losses from their 16 matches to date.
There is a Tasmanian connection to the side too, with one of Tasmania's two Socceroos, Dominic Longo, having played 199 games, and scored 4 goals for the club from 1995 - 2004.
South will learn the date of their fixture later in the week, with potential match dates on July 23/24, July 30/31 or August 6/7.
Coach Ken Morton said he was happy with the draw and that he would fly over to have a look at the Stallions in action over the coming weeks.
"I will definitely fly over and have a look at them over the next couple of weeks, I think its a good draw for us and it should be a good draw card for the public. I'd like to think the public will come out and see a team of Marconi's standing."
"Obviously we are a much better chance at home rather than travelling to Marconi, they'd be a formidable opponent away from home, but on your home soil, with them having to travel you have a better chance of doing something. We were very unlucky against Sydney United 58 up there last time, we worked really hard and we will work really hard again."
Captain Hugh Ludford said he was hoping for a strong crowd to support the side and that the side would need to maintain a razor focus in the game.
"Good to have it at home and hopefully we can get a lot of good local support along."
"We need to not be overawed by the occasion and just look to play our natural game as much as possible. We need to pay attention for the full 90 and not lose our concentration."
Fellow Captain Nick Morton said he was excited at the challenge that awaited and thrilled to be back playing the competition.
"I think it means everything to the club, we haven't been there for the last few years and getting back to it this year means so much to us and we're so happy to be here now."
"I expect a team that is going to be tough, physical on the ball and move it quickly. It should be a great challenge for us."
